Jalynn Harris is a poet, educator, editor, and press founder from Baltimore, MD. She founded SoftSavagePress for the sole purpose of promoting visual and literary works by Black people. She earned her MFA from the University of Baltimore, where she was the inaugural recipient of Michael F. Klein fellowship for social justice. Founded in 2019, SoftSavagePress is an independent publishing house directed in the desire of promoting creative works by Black people. What began in the mattress foam of a Baltimore apartment, has grown in vision and scope. Our first publication, a literary journal, Canary Review Vol.1, surveys Black womxn’s experiences from Cape Town, South Africa to Durham, North Carolina.
